The JHTTB Allocates $423,000 in Community Event Funding for 35 Events
JACKSON, WY – In a public meeting on August 8, 2024, the Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board (JHTTB) approved $423,000 to be allocated among 35 local events taking place between January 1, 2025 and June 8, 2025.
Event funding from the JHTTB directly benefits the community by generating lodging revenue and additional economic spend while enhancing local, cultural activities.
Event Funding
The JHTTB allocates public funding collected from the lodging tax to local events to promote, market, and produce events taking place in fall, winter, and spring. The JHTTB has allocated between $600,000 and $1.9 million each year to assist local events.
ExploreThe JHTTB has allocated a total of $792,700 to community events taking place between September 26, 2024 and June 5, 2025, with an additional $1 million awarded to signature events including the three day Rendezvous Spring Festival hosted by Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Events funded by the Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board generate an average of $6 to $1 return in lodging revenue and over $2 million in spend on local dining, shopping, and activities annually.
“It’s incredible to see the impact event funding can make on the community,” says Shelby Scharp, Events Chair for the JHTTB’s Events Committee. “The energy and excitement around these activities is felt and enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.”
JHTTB event funding supports activities taking place in Teton County, WY that draw visitors to Jackson in traditionally slower times of the year to generate overnight stays while investing in and enhancing a strong community culture. Funded festivals and fairs, like Old West Days, Snake River Fest, Headwaters Festival, and the Teton Powwow, anticipate generating more than 13,000 room nights in Spring 2024. Similarly, sporting events like the Pedigree Stage Stop Dog Sled Race, the Snowmobile Hill Climb, Jackson Hole Youth Soccer, and the Ski & Snowboard Club races see consistent attendance of over 32,000 people resulting in high travel-related spending year over year.
The high return in lodging tax funds by these large events allow the Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board to provide continued support to smaller community-centric events as well. Events like Whodunnit?, the Youth Musical by Off Square Theater Company, and the Winter People’s Market all receive funding from the JHTTB to stage, produce, and market their events.
The JHTTB received 79 applications for events taking place between January 1 – June 5, 2025, requesting a total of over $2.9 million in funding. In the August 8, 2024 public meeting in which Spring event funding was approved by the Board, the JHTTB awarded the $792,700 available in their regular budget and an additional almost $100,000 from unallocated reserves.
“It’s exciting to see the community taking advantage of this funding opportunity,” Scharp continues. “A lot of work is required by the Events Committee to review applications and allocate a limited amount of funding, but we firmly believe that work pays off when we can put the money back into the hands of local organizations and organizers keeping our community a vibrant place to visit and live.”
Through strategic allocation of Teton County’s lodging tax funds, we steward Jackson Hole toward a sustainable destination, where our leadership, marketing, management, and community engagement ensure the vitality of our natural and human ecosystems.
